Donald served as a Technical Sergeant and Radio Operator on B-24 (#42-95136), 576th Bomber Squadron, 392nd Bomber Group, Heavy, U.S. Army Air Force during World War II.

He resided in Onondaga County, New York prior to the war.

He enlisted in the Army Air Corps on November 17, 1942 in Syracuse, New York. He was noted as being employed as a Driver and also as Single, without dependents.

Donald was "Killed In Action" when his B-24 was shot down by anti-aircraft fire and crashed south east of Neubukow/Mecklenburg during the war.

He was awarded an Air Medal with one Oak Leaf Cluster and the purple heart.
