Stanley served as a Private First Class, 41st Tank Battalion, 11th Armored Division, U.S. Army during World War II.

He resided in Rockingham County, New Hampshire prior to the war.

He enlisted in the Army on October 21, 1942 in Manchester, New Hampshire. He was noted, at the time of his enlistment, as being employed as a Shipping and receiving clerk and also as Single, with dependents.

Stanley was declared "Missing In Action" in Belgium during the war.

He was awarded the Purple Heart.

He also has a "Cenotaph" in the Town Cemetery, Plaistow, New Hampshire.
