Son of Mrs. Alice M. Barnett who resided in Rochester, New York.

Bert served as a Sergeant & Nose Gunner on B-17 #43-38818, 524th Bomber Squadron, 379th Bomber Group, Heavy, U.S. Army Air Force during World War II.

He resided at 36 Girton Place, Rochester, Monroe County, New York prior to the war.

He enlisted in the Army on September 8, 1942 in Rochester, New York. He was noted, at the time of his enlistment, as being employed as an Office Clerk and also as Single, without dependents.

Bert was "Killed In Action" when his B-17 was hit by enemy flak and burst into flames and exploded over Germany during the war. He was awarded an Air Medal with 1 Oak Leaf Cluster and a Purple Heart.

His father, who served as a Lt. in the Merchant Marines, died of a Heart Attack at sea on January 16, 1945.
