Otis, who resided at 415 West Thirtieth Street, Wilmington, Delaware, served as a Staff Sergeant & Tail Gunner on B-24H (#42-94940), 701st Bomber Squadron, 445th Bomber Group, Heavy, U.S. Army Air Force during World War II.

He enlisted in the Army on August 20, 1943 in Camden, New Jersey. He was noted, at the time of his enlistment, as being Single, without dependents.

Otis was "Killed In Action" when his B-24 was hit by enemy flak over Germany and crashed during the war. He was decorated with the Purple Heart.

He also has a cenotaph in the Odd Fellow's Cemetery, Camden, Delaware - "click here".
