Daniel R. Ford, 45, of Broadway, North Attleboro, a Taunton native, died on Saturday, October 4, 2003 at his residence surrounded by the love of his family following a long illness. He was the husband of Linda L. (Connor) Ford to whom he was married on June 3, 1999.
Born in Manchester, New Hampshire on August 22, 1958, he was a son of Ralph R. Ford of Taunton and the late Gladys G. (Johnson) Ford who died in 2001. He was raised and educated in Taunton where he was a 1976 graduate of Taunton High School.
Mr. Ford was a career Navy man having served with meritorious service in the United States Navy as a Chief Machinist Mate aboard the USS Daniel Boone and had been an instructor for the Navy at nuclear schools throughout the Untied States and had built and served aboard the ballistic submarines USS Pennsylvania and the USS Rhode Island prior to his retirement in 1997.
Until his illness, he had been employed as a maintenance chief foreman for Intel in Hudson, Massachusetts.
He resided in North Attleboro for the past 4 years having previously resided in Arizona for two years and was formerly a longtime Georgia resident.
Mr. Ford was a communicant of St. Mary's Church, North Attleboro.
In Woodbine, Georgia he was a member of the volunteer fire department, was an Emergency Medical Technician and was a baseball coach.
He was a Harley-Davidson motorcycle enthusiast and enjoyed playing golf and woodworking. Mr. Ford was an antique clock collector and was devoted to his children and family. Last June, he participated as a survivor in the American Cancer Society's Greater Attleboro Relay for Life.
In addition to his wife of four years and his father, he leaves three daughters: Holly Ivana Ford and Emily Rene Ford both at home in North Attleboro and Mikki Bails of Brunswick, Maine; a son: Zachary Daniel Ford at home in North Attleboro; a stepdaughter: Kelly M. Pederson of Raynham; two stepsons: George D. Polillio of Bridgewater and Carlo Crocetti of Easton; three sisters: Deborah M. Ford of South Orange, New Jersey; Janice A. Rosenthal of Woodland Hills, California and Jennifer M. Yee of East Northport, Long Island, New York; a brother: Michael B. Ford of Taunton; two grandchildren; 5, soon to be 6, step grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend the funeral with veteran's honors on Wednesday, October 8, 2003 at 7:45 AM from the "Commonwealth Chapel" of the Dyer-Lake Funeral Home, 161 Commonwealth Avenue (exit 5 off I-95 N or S, go right at end of ramp, ¾ mile on left), Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro followed by a Mass of Christian burial at 9:00 AM at St. Mary's Church, Park Street, North Attleboro with the Rev. James Fitzpatrick, pastor officiating. Burial will full military honors will follow in the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne.
Visitation with veteran's honors will be held on Tuesday, October 7, 2003 from 5:00 – 8:00 PM in the funeral home.
