Mrs. Clara Beets, wife of Fred Beets, died at her home northwest of Hillsdale, Tuesday, January 15, 1946 having been ill only three days. She was fifty-seven years old.

Clara Ethel Dunn was born October 3, 1889, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Perry Dunn of Paola. She attended the Paola schools and graduated with the class of 1907. She was employed as a stenographer in the law office of Emmor J. Sheldon until her marriage, August 26, 1908 to Fred Beets of Hillsdale. They moved to the farm near Hillsdale where they spent their married life.

Eleven children were born of this marriage, all of whom, with her husband, survive, also thirteen grandchildren. The children are Vivian, wife of Roy Mayes, Paola; Pauline, wife of Del Smith, Spring Hill; Jean, wife of J.W. Merrill of Chicago; Marjorie wife of Lloyd Boehm of Hillsdale; Max, Hillsdale; Fred, Jr., Spearfish, S.D.,; Cpl. Dean Beets, Army Air Force; Robert E., St. Louis; Rex K. and Kenneth D., recently discharged from the Air Force and now residing at Hillsdale; and Bill of the home.

Mrs. Beets is also survived by her mother, Mrs. Perry J. Dunn, Paola; three sisters, Cora Kane, Wichita; Mrs. Pearle Hagemeyer, Paola, and Mrs. Loa Low, Fontana, and one brother W. P. Dunn of Muskogee, Oklahoma.

Mrs. Beets was a friend to everyone, her deep devotion to her family crowned her queen of her home and she leaves a devoted husband and family to mourn her loss. Funeral services were held Thursday afternoon at the Presbyterian Church in Hillsdale, Rev. Milton Klein officiating at 2:30 o'clock. Mrs. Harriet Dawson and Harry Dickey, accompanied by Katherine Dewy, sang "In the Garden," "Ivory Palaces" and "City Four Square." Bodybearers were Claude, Clyde, Jess and Will Beets, Clyde and Ted Miller. Burial was in the Hillsdale Cemetery.
