He enlisted in the Army on October 3, 1940, prior to the war, in Boston, Massachusetts. He was noted, at the time of his enlistment, as being Single, without dependents.

Joseph was "Killed In Action" during the war and was awarded the Purple Heart.

Pvt Joseph E A David, ASN 11020537, was the son of Wilfred and Mary David of 28 West Elmwood Ave., Manchester, Hillsborough County, New Hampshire. Manchester is 52 miles north northwest of Boston, MA.
He enlisted in the Army on October 3, 1940, prior to the war, in Boston, Massachusetts. He was noted, at the time of his enlistment, as being Single, without dependents.
Joseph served as a Private First Class, 7th Field Artillery Battalion, 1st Infantry Division. 7th Field Artillery was a 75mm pack-howitzer unit. The 1st Infantry Division followed up the Saint-Lô break-through with an attack on Marigny the last week of July 1944. Marigny is 10 miles west of Saint Lo.
