Robert, who resided at 6 East Summit Avenue, Richardson Park, Wilmington, Delaware, served as a Private First Class with the 328th Transportation Corps Harbor Craft Company, U.S. Army during World War II.

Robert was also a member of the Delaware National Guard prior to the war.

His National Guard unit was called into full time active Army service on September 16, 1940, prior to the war, from Wilmington, Delaware. He was noted, at that time, as being Single, without dependents.

Robert was reported "Missing In Action" when the ship he was being transported on from England to France was attacked and sunk in the English Channel during the war.

He had served in the Army for over two years at the time of his death and was awarded a Purple Heart.
