Gordon, who resided in Holly Oak, New Castle County, Delaware, served as a Sergeant with the 110th Infantry Regiment, 28th Infantry Division, U.S. Army during World War II.

He enlisted in the Army on April 14, 1941, prior to the war, in Trenton, New Jersey. He was noted, at the time of his enlistment, as being employed in the manufacture of textiles and also as Single, without dependents.

Gordon was "Killed In Action" near Paris, France during the war.

He had served in the Army for three years and four months at the time of his death and was decorated with a Purple Heart.

Gordon also has a "Cenotaph" in the North Evans Cemetery, North Evans, New York.
