Son of John E. Crossland and Florence M. Russell Crossland.

John, who resided at 804 Seventeenth Street, Wilmington, Delaware, served as a Private First Class with Company K, 115th Infantry Regiment, 29th Division, U.S. Army during World War II.

He enlisted in the Army on January 17, 1944 in Camden, New Jersey. He was noted as being employed in the manufacture of automobiles and as being Single, without dependents.

He was "Killed In Action" in France.

He had served with the Army for seven months at the time of his death and was decorated with the Purple Heart.
