On December 5, 1943 the 389th BG set out against Cognac, France. Poor weather forced the group to bomb St. Nazaire instead. Over the secondary target,THE OKLAHOMAN was hit by flak and came apart. One man, Lt. Harley Mason of the 566th BS, survived became POW.
