Albert Bromley was the son of Sidney A De Montford & Alice Louisa (nee Taylor) Bromley. He enlisted in the Australian Imperial Force on 24 August 1915 and embarked from Sydney for active service abroad on 8 Mach 1916 per HMAT "Star of England" (A15). He was killed at the Battle of Fromelles, aged 19 years.

His brother, Private Sidney Reginald Bromley also fell on the same day.

"ROLL OF HONOUR
BROMLEY.-Killed in action at Fleurbaix, previously reported missing S. R. (Sid) aged 24 years and 11 months, and A. C. (Bert), aged 19 1/2 years, much loved sons of S. de Montford and Alice Bromley, and grandsons of the late Dr. Joschia Bromley, and great grandsons of the late Duke of Sussex."
