He was born April 18, 1920, the son of Joseph and Mary Meister Fritsch. He graduated from Sunman High School in 1938. He retired from the New York Central Railroad after working there 40 years. He also served in the U.S. Army in World War II.
On Nov. 8, 1941, he married Lavana Hartman, and she survives, with two daughters, Laverne Hoffmeier, New Alsace, Ind., and Lorna Saar, Huntington, W.Va.; two sisters, Eleanor Doll, Batesville, Ind., and Josephine Billman, Columbus, Ind.; four grandchildren and one great-grandson.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at the St. Paul Catholic Church in New Alsace, Ind. with the Rev. John Hall officiating.
Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the Cook Funeral Home, Sunman, Ind.
A rosary will be prayed at 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Memorials may go to the charity of the donor's choice.
