VX9914 - Pte - Edgar Alford enlisted in the A.I.F. at North Melbourne, Victoria into the 2/1 Field Workshops from which he was discharged on 21 February 1940.

He then put his age down one year and enlisted as VX61157 at Darwin, Northern Territory on 6 August 1941.

This time he enlisted in the A. A. O. C. - Australian Army Ordinance Corps - 22 Brigade Field Park

He was a member of F Force and slaved on the Thai Burma Railway.

After their time on the Railway most of the surviving survivors of F Force returned to Changi at Singapore, where he passed away aged 27 years.
