Frank served as a Sergeant & Gunner on B-24J #42-109844, 514th Bomber Squadron, 376th Bomber Group, Heavy, U.S. Army Air Forces during World War II.

He resided in Oregon prior to the war.

B-24J #42-109844 took off from San Pancrazio, Italy on a bombing mission to Marsdorf, Germany. They were involved in a mid-air collision with B-24H #41-28951 over the Adriatic Sea north of Vieste, Italy. The cause of the collision is unknown.

Frank was declared "Missing In Action" in this collision during the war.

He was awarded the Air Medal and the Purple Heart.
