William served as a Second Lieutenant & Bombardier on B-24J "Mary Ellen" #42-50960, 515th Bomber Squadron, 376th Bomber Group, Heavy, U.S. Army Air Force during World War II.

He resided in Queens County, New York prior to the war.

B-24J #42-50960 took off from San Pancrazio Airfield, Italy on a bombing mission over Mezzocorona, ItaIy. Due to cloudy weather it is unknown what exactly happened to this B-24 and it is believed that they crashed in the Adriatic Sea during the war.

William was declared "Missing In Action" on his mission.

His remains were not recovered.

He was awarded the Air Medal and the Purple Heart.
