George was born in Hibbing, Minnesota to George Minerich (Juro Majnarič) and Teresa "Rosa" Tezac.

George served as a staff sergeant in the 777th Bomb Squadron, 464th Bombardment Group (H), 15th Air Force, U.S. Army Air Forces during World War II. He flew on the B-24G Liberator "Wise Rabbit" (42-78094). On Apr. 12, 1944, he was shot down over the Mediterranean Sea off the coast of Tunisia. The entire crew was declared missing in action, presumed dead.

George also has a memorial plaque at Maple Hill Cemetery in Hibbing, Minnesota.
