Son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Carl Mallow who resided in Buffalo, New York.

Charles served as a Seaman, Second Class, USS Buck (DD-420), U.S. Navy during World War II.

He resided in Erie County, New York prior to the war.

Charles was declared "Missing In Action" when the Buck was ambushed and sunk just after midnight by German submarine U-616 commanded by Siegfried Koitschka and hit forward starboard by at least one and possibly two torpedoes. He was awarded a Purple Heart.
