Eugene served as a First Lieutenant & Navigator on B-17G #44-6190, 773rd Bomber Squadron, 463rd Bomber Group, Heavy, U.S. Army Air Force during World War II.

He resided in Mt. Morris, Livingston County, New York prior to the war.

B-17G #44-6190 took off from Celone, Italy on a bombing mission. After take off they were called to return to base as the mission had been called off. They are believed to have crashed into the sea off Italy for an unknown reason.

Eugene was declared "Missing In Action" in this crash during the war.

He was awarded the Air Medal and the Purple Heart.
