Son of Charles Connor who resided in Waterville, Maine.

Robert served as a Staff Sergeant & Engineer on B-24J #42-51274, 828th Bomber Squadron, 485th Bomber Group, Heavy, U.S. Army Air Force during World War II.

He resided in Rockingham County, New Hampshire prior to the war.

He enlisted in the Army on June 30, 1942 in Manchester, New Hampshire. He was noted, at the time of his enlistment, as being employed in the building of aircraft and also as Single, without dependents.

B-24J #42-51274 was on a ferrying mission from Venosa, Italy to Naples. It is believed that the Pilot for some reason lost directional control of the B-24. Possibly due to engine failure. The B-24 crashed 5 miles northwest of Venosa after take-off during the war.

Robert died in the "Line Of Duty" in this crash.

He was awarded the Air Medal.
