Stephen served as a Staff Sergeant & Turret Gunner on B-25C #41-13211, 445th Bomber Squadron, 321st Bomber Group, Medium, U.S. Army Air Forces during World War II.

He resided in Erie County, New York prior to the war.

He enlisted in the Army on April 10, 1942 in Buffalo, New York. He was noted, at the time of his enlistment, as being employed as a Electrician and also as Single, without dependents.

B-25C #41-13211 took off from Souk-el-Arba Airfield, Tunisia on a bombing mission over Ciampino, Italy. They were attacked & hit by ground anti-aircraft fire and crashed near the target in Italy during the war.

Stephen was "Killed In Action" in this crash.

He was awarded a Air Medal with 5 Oak Leaf Clusters and a Purple Heart.
