Major William R. Beall, formerly of Hagerstown, has been reported killed in action in Italy.

His mother, Mrs. Earnest F. Harris and his wife, a former Rockville, Md., teacher, have been notified of Major Beall’s death September 24 in Italy. He previously had been reported missing in action.

Major Beall, who was a member of the U.S. Army Reserve Corps, left Hagerstown several years a go to join the Army. He was associated with a Washington newspaper in the circulation department and while here resided with his family on Potomac avenue across from the Hagerstown High School.
