He resided in Louisiana and was previously a member of the National Guard prior to the war.

He enlisted in the Army Air Corps on September 27, 1941, prior to the war, at Camp Hulen, Texas. He was noted, at the time of his enlistment, as being Single, without dependents.

William was "Killed In Action" when his B-26 crashed into the side of Monte Azza in Italy shortly after takeoff during the war. He was awarded the Air Medal with 6 Oak Leaf Clusters and the Purple Heart.
