Pfc Milo O. Whipple enlisted in Cincinnati, Ohio on 14 October 1942 and received his basic training at Camp Atterbury, Ind. He was wounded in the hand on July 6 and was confined for a time in a hospital in England and later received wounds in his left foot. He returned to active duty in November and was serving in an infantry unit. Pfc Whipple graduated from Jackson High School in Ohio in 1938. Prior to entering service, he was employed at the Kemper Furniture factory in Union City. He went overseas in April, 1944.
