Son of James Thomas Skelly and Gertrude McFarland Skelly.

Thomas, who resided at 2200 Park Drive, Wilmington, Delaware, served as a Captain with the 252nd Field Artillery, Ninth Army, U.S. Army during World War II.

He enlisted in the Army on February 17, 1941, prior to the war, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He was noted as being employed as a Salesperson and also as being Single, without dependents.

He was "Killed In Action" while serving as an observer for the Artillery near Remagen, Germany during the war.

He had served in the Army for four years and one month at the time of his death and was decorated with a Purple Heart.
