Parents of Peter Pastras: Harry Pastras and Anna Biron.
Per "Michigan, Marriage Records, 1867-1952" Peter Archie Pastras married 20 Apr 1944 Lansing, Ingham Co., MI, to Evelyn Katherine Jourdain (b 24 Oct 1925 Lansing, Ingham Co., MI). They had no children.

Peter A. Pastras entered the service October 14, 1942 and received his basic training at Miami Beach in Florida. He was sent to the college training detachment at Wofford college, Spartanburg, South Carolina. Classified for pilot training at Nashville in Tennessee and was sent to Maxwell field, Alabama, for his pre-flight training. His primary flying training was given at the 70th army air forces flying training detachment and his basic flying at Walnut Ridge in Arkansas. He was commissioned in April at Blytheville, Arkansas upon graduating from advanced twin engine flying training. Further training was received at drew field in Tampa, Florida and Savannah in Georgia, before going overseas in November.

He was the Pilot of B-17 "Times-a-wastin," on a bombing mission to Standal, Germany.

Statement from William J. Carlson, T/Sgt, 322nd Bomb Squardon, 91st Bomb Group:
"I first observed aircraft B-17G, 42-102504, to be in trouble at about 30 seconds to one minute after bombs away. I saw the no. 2 engine smoking badly and there appeared to be flames between no. 2 engine and the fuselage. The right wing and engines appeared to be untouched. The aircraft then nosed upward, stood on the right wing tip and side slipped downward in a steep dive. After it had fallen for a couple of hundred feet I saw one man leave the aircraft and his parachute opened immediately.

The aircraft continued downward in a steep circling dive to the right. I instructed the Ball Turret Gunner of our ship to watch ot go down and he stated that only the one parachute came from subject aircraft before it crashed and burned."
