Son of Louis E. Morneau who resided in Salem Depot, New Hampshire.

Francis served as a Sergeant & Right Waist Gunner on B-17 "Winnie the Pooh" aka "Flak Wolf" #42-3131, 427th Bomber Squadron, 303rd Bomber Group, Heavy, U.S. Army Air Forces during World War II.

He resided in Rockingham County, New Hampshire prior to the war.

He enlisted in the Army on September 11, 1942 in Manchester, New Hampshire. He was noted, at the time of his enlistment, as being employed in the production of beverages and also as Single, without dependents.

B-17 #42-3131 took off from Molesworth, England on a bombing mission over Oschersleben, Germany. En route they were attacked by German fighters and were shot down and crashed near Kloster Oesede, Germany four miles southeast of Osnabruk, Germany during the war.

Francis was "Killed In Action" in this crash.

He was awarded the Purple Heart.
