He was awarded the Purple Heart & Air Medals.
His grave marker is on the Tablets of the Walls of the Missing at Netherlands-American Cemetery, Margraten, the Netherlands.

The family formerly resided in Watervliet and Edwin Jacobson graduated from Watervliet High School. He was employed at the arsenal before entering the service. His father died two months before his death. A brother Hale V. Jacobsen [Memorial ID 49236225 ], was serving in the Navy and was stationed at sea.
