The Weekly Democrat, Poplarville, Mississippi Thursday, February 8, 1945 Lt. Hollis Reported Killed
Lt. Terrell L. Hollis, son of Mr. and Mrs. L. G. Hollis of Derma, has been reported as killed in action while on a flight over Europe, according to a telegram from the War Department on January 26.
On October 19 of last year, Mr. and Mrs. Hollis were informed that their son was missing in action after his plane had been shot down over Europe. This is the first news to be received since that date.
Lt. Hollis was a navigator on a Liberator Bomber. He graduated with the highest grade in his class when he graduated as a navigator.
Lt. Hollis, a nephew of Dr. J.B. Davis of Poplarville, attended Pearl River College during the session of 1939-40. He later went to Mississippi State College and left college during his senior year to enlist in the air corps. He was a student in engineering at Miss. State.
The young officers is survived by his parents; one sister, Miss Martha Hollis of Blue Mountain College; one brother, William Hollis, who is a Pharmacist Mate First Class in the navy aboard the USS Tuscaloosa; and his uncle, Dr. Davis.
