Gerald Dutton Glaze was born in November 27th 1919 in South Carolina, his father, Archie, was 20 and his mother, Florence, was 24. He had three siblings. He died in 1943 at the age of 24. Sgt. Gerald Glaze, son of A. M. Glaze, Chief of Police at West Columbia, has been reported missing in action over Germany since December 22, according to a telegram from the War Department received recently by his father.

Sergeant Glaze, a Ball Turret Gunner on a Flying Fortress, west overseas the first of October and was stationed in England. For eight months before going on foreign duty, he was Gunnery Instructor at Spokane Washington.

A graduate of Brookland-Cayce High School, Sergeant Glaze was with the South Carolina Highway Department before entering the Air Corps in August 1942.
