John served as a First Lieutenant & Navigator on B-17G "Arch Bishop" #42-31236, 367th Bomber Squadron, 306th Bomber Group, Heavy, U.S. Army Air Forces during World War II.

He resided in the District Of Columbia prior to the war.

He enlisted in the Army on August 7, 1941, prior to the war, in Richmond, Virginia. He was noted, at the time of his enlistment, as being employed as a Financial institution clerk and also as Single, without dependents.

He was married after his enlistment.

B-17G #42-31236 was attacked and shot down by German Aircraft during World War II. The plane crashed on the Kremer Farm, near Vlessendijk, Raalte, Holland.

John was "Killed In Action" in this crash.

He was awarded the Air Medal with 2 Oak Leaf Cluster and the Purple Heart.
