SSgt. Dobbins also has a memorial in his hometown next to his parents which can be viewed here. Both memorials are cenotaphs as his body was never recovered.

SSgt. U.S. Army Air Corps, World War II-SSgt. Dobbins was killed in action on 3-22-1943 while serving as a waist gunner on a B-24 Bomber with the 506th Bomber Squadron of the 44th Bomber Group, Heavy, 8th Air Force.

He is the son of Mr. & Mrs. Everett H. Dobbins of 1009 North Capitol Street in Pekin, Illinois, and he attended Pekin H.S. for two years. he is the husband of Mrs. Lucille Dobbins of Colorado whom he married there on December 12, 1942.

SSgt. Dobbins enlisted in the Air Corps in Peoria on March 21, 1942 after 3 and 1/2 years at the Ouaker Oats Co., and did his training at Florida, Jefferson Barracks, Missouri, and was sent to Las Vegas, Nevada for gunnery training and a Sgt.' rating. He was in Tucson, Arizona, Boise, Idaho, Wendover, Utah, Pueblo, Colorado, and Salina, Kansas.

Awards: American Campaign Medal, Crew Wings, Air Medal, Purple Heart Medal, European Campaign Medal with Two Battle Stars, Army Good Conduct Medal, WWII Victory Medal.
