Sgt. Craig with Pilot Ford and crew, flew B24 42-40604 SATANS ANGEL in "Operation Tidal Wave" the low level mission to destroy Romanian oil wells. The Ploesti raid was one of the most daring raids of WW2. Coming in at tree top level the 93rd destroy Romanian oil refineries. The 93 BG earns a Presidential Unit Citation, all of the crews receive the Distinguished Flying Cross.
Sgt. Craig is the only known crew member of 42-41015 who's body was recovered.
The other crew members names appear on Tablets of the Missing at Cambridge American Cemetery Cambridge, England, his body was never recovered. From this crew Col. Hayden, Capt. Ford, Capt. Norman, 2nd/Lt. Cantrell, 2nd/Lt. Myres and Sgt. Eckert, Randals, Kobler, are still listed as MIA/KIA
