John served as a Private First Class in the 36th Armored Infantry Regiment, 3rd Armored Division, U.S. Army during World War II.

He resided at 65 Breck Street, Rochester, Monroe County, New York prior to the war.

He enlisted in the Army on March 10, 1944 at Fort Dix, New Jersey. He was noted, at the time of his enlistment, as being employed in construction and also as being Married.

John was "Killed In Action" in Germany during the war.

He was awarded the Purple Heart.
