Norman Bettin attended Washington High School in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and was a graduate of Montello High School. He was engaged in farming before he entered the service in May, 1942. He was commissioned at Williams Field, Ariz., on July 28, 1943.

1st Lt. Bettin F. Norman volunteered for a Photo Reccon Mission that day. Normally he flew a P-38J. That day he flew at P-51.

He was shot down over Holland, 3 Km north from the town Otterlo, Holland.
