Second Lieutenant Edward A Zieminski, Connecticut, Service Number O-790319, flew as navigator on B-17 Flying Fortresses with the 427th Bomb Squadron, 303rd Bomb Group. He was killed in action 1 May 1943 during a mission destroy the u-boat yards at St Nazaire, France, in B-17 #41-24610, called "Joe Btfsplk II" which was heavily damaged by flak over the target and crashed.


2Lt. Zieminski was awarded the Air Medal after completing 5 mission and was posthumously awarded the Purple Heart.
