Son of Glenn & Mary Nichols Wensel.

Harry served as a Staff Sergeant & Gunner on B-24H #42-95160, 856th Bomber Squadron, 492nd Bomber Group, Heavy, U.S. Army Air Force during World War II.

He resided in Dansville, Livingston County, New York prior to the war.

He enlisted in the Army on December 16, 1941 in Rochester, New York. He was noted, at the time of his enlistment, as being Single without dependents.

B-24H #42-95160 took off from England on a bombing mission over Avord, France. For an unknown reason the plane stalled and spun out of control and crashed at Garvestone, Norfolk, England during the war.

Harry was "Killed In Action" in this crash.

He was awarded an Air Medal and a Purple Heart.
