John served as a First Lieutenant & Bombardier on B-24H ~ #42-50322, 734th Bomber Squadron, 453rd Bomber Group, Heavy, U.S. Army Air Forces during World War II.

He resided in Baltimore County, Maryland prior to the war.

He enlisted in the Army Air Corps on October 12, 1941, prior to the war, in Baltimore, Maryland. He was noted, at the time of his enlistment, as being employed as a Laboratory technician and/or assistant and also as Single, without dependents.

John was declared "Missing In Action" when his B-24H was shot down by ground anti-aircraft fire and crashed in Germany during the war.

He was awarded the Air Medal and the Purple Heart.
