Edgar served as a Seaman, Second Class, U.S.S. LST 507, U.S. Navy during World War II.

He resided in Laconia, Belknap County, New Hampshire prior to the war.

U.S.S. LST 507 was sunk by a German torpedo in what was known as "Exercise Tiger". Exercise Tiger was a practice run off the coast of England for the D-Day landing.

Edgar was "Killed In Action" in this attack during the war.

He was awarded the Purple Heart.
