Jack served as a Staff Sergeant & Left Waist Gunner on B-17F "Son" #42-5221, 427th Bomber Squadron, 303rd Bomber Group, U.S. Army Air Force during World War II.

He resided in Tarrant County, Texas prior to the war.

He enlisted in the Army Air Corps on November 1, 1942 in Dallas, Texas. He was noted, at the time of his enlistment, as being Single, without dependents.

Jack was declared "Missing In Action" when his B-17 was hit by German aircraft and crashed into the Baltic Sea, near Lolland, Denmark during the war.

He was awarded the Air Medal and the Purple Heart.
