Ralph served as a Technical Sergeant & Radio Operator on B-17F "Little Caesar" #42-30370, 338th Bomber Squadron, 96th Bomber Group, Heavy, U.S. Army Air Forces during World War II.

He resided in Sullivan County, New Hampshire prior to the war.

Ralph was declared "Missing In Action" when his B-17 was involved in a mid air collision with B-17 #42-5908 and crashed into the North Sea during the war.

He was awarded the Air Medal with 3 Oak Leaf Clusters and the Purple Heart.
