Harold served as a Sergeant & Tail Gunner on B-17 #42-50322, 734th Bomber Squadron, 453rd Bomber Group, Heavy, U.S. Army Air Forces during World War II.

He resided in Erie County, New York prior to the war.

He enlisted in the Army on February 15, 1943 in Buffalo, New York. He was noted, at the time of his enlistment, as being employed in a Machine shop and also as Single, without dependents.

Harold was declared "Missing In Action" when his B-17 failed to return from a mission over Germany during the war. He was awarded the Air Medal and the Purple Heart.

The headstone shown to the right is actually in Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, VA.
