Son of Mr. and Mrs. Edward John Lausted who resided in Buffalo, New York.

John served as a Quartermaster, Third Class, USS Glennon (DD-620), U.S. Navy during World War II.

He resided in Erie County, New York prior to the war.

John was declared "Missing In Action" when the Glennon struck mine off Normandy during the war and was awarded a Purple Heart. Two days later the Glennon was sunk by German shore batteries.
