Son of George Edgar Harne.

Jack served as a Seaman, First Class, U.S. Navy during World War II.

He resided in Hagerstown, Washington County, Maryland prior to the war.

He was declared "Missing In Action" when the Turbine Tanker "Jacksonville" was sunk by a German U-Boat near Ireland during the war. He was awarded a Purple Heart.
