Son of Samuel W. Eastburn and Elizabeth Woodward Eastburn who resided at 124 South Woodward Avenue, Roselle, Wilmington, Delaware.

Linford served as a Sergeant and Right Waist Gunner on B-24H "Little Iodine" (#41-29533), 846th Bomb Squadron, 489th Bomb Group, 95th CBW, Eighth Air Force, U.S. Army Air Force during World War II.

He enlisted in the Army on June 23, 1943 in Camden, New Jersey. He was noted as being employed as a Airplane Mechanic and repairmen and also as Single, without dependents.

Linford was declared "Missing In Action" when the B-24H he was on crashed in the North Sea. His plane was returning from a mission over Aschersleben, Germany.

He had served in the Air Corps for one year at the time of his death and was awarded the Air Medal and the Purple Heart.
