Son of Clarence Oscar Deakyne, Sr. and Rose May Hickman Deakyne who resided in Minquadale, Delaware during the war.

Clarence served as a Staff Sergeant with the 33rd Chemical Decontamination Company, U.S. Army during World War II.

He resided in Calvert County, Maryland prior to the war and previously to that he resided in Minquadale, DE with his parents.

He enlisted in the Army on July 22, 1942 in Camden, New Jersey. He was noted as being employed as a Laboratory technician and/or assistant and also as Single, without dependents.

He was declared "Missing In Action" when a L.S.T. he was on was sunk in the English Channel during the war. He was awarded the Purple Heart.

Clarence also has a "Cenotaph" in the Barratt's Chapel Cemetery, Frederica, Delaware.
