Anthony served as a Staff Sergeant & Ball Turret Gunner on B-24H "She's Mine" #42-95105, 704th Bomber Squadron, 446th Bomber Group, Heavy, U.S. Army Air Forces during World War II.

He resided in Westchester County, New York prior to the war.

He enlisted in the Army on August 11, 1943 in New York City, New York. He was noted, at the time of his enlistment, as being Single, without dependents.

Anthony was declared "Missing In Action" when his B-24 was shot down and crashed on a mission to bomb the Bingen am Rhein marshaling yards in Germany during the war.

He was awarded the Air Medal and a Purple Heart.
