Son of Mrs. Edmee B. Coburn who resided in Hanover, New Hampshire.

John served as a Captain and Bombardier on B-26B (#41-32013), 558th Bomber Squadron, 387th Bomber Group, Medium, U.S. Army Air Forces during World War II.

He resided in Grafton County, New Hampshire prior to the war.

He enlisted in the Army Air Corps on September 9, 1940, prior to the war, in Concord, New Hampshire. He was noted, at the time of his enlistment, as being employed as a Office Clerk and also as Single, without dependents.

John was declared "Missing In Action" when his B-26B was shot down by German Fighters and crashed into the North Sea during the war.

He was awarded the "Distinguished Flying Cross", Air Medal with 4 Oak Leaf Clusters, and the Purple Heart.
