Missing in Action

The son of attorney Alfred Clark and French-born Blandine nee Chevalli, Rene was a Lincoln boy; born and raised there, attended the local schools, and was a graduate of Lincoln Union High School with the class of 1934. He enlisted in the US Army Air Corps as an Aviation Cadet on January 7, 1942, at San Francisco. Second Lieutenant Clark was with the 336th Bomber Squadron when the B-17 on which he was navigator was shot down by enemy fighters over the English Channel. The attempt to ditch into the water was unsuccessful, resulting in the death of all 10 crew members. He was survived by his mother Blandine Tout and his brother Eugene Clark.
