Max Cisek was born in Chicago but grew up in Maywood, Illinois. He was inducted into the Army Air Corps on April 13, 1942, and sent to Officers Candidates School. He qualified as a bombardier at Childress Field, Texas. It is unclear what happened, but his plane, White Tail II, left formation after a bombing raid on Bremen, Germany. The crew never indicated that the plane was having problems. It went down at sea resulting in the lost of the entire crew. They were declared dead on August 19, 1945.
